Long before cold-pressing became a trend, there was Mumera — an ancient African tradition of healing through sprouting. Seeds germinated in water and light, producing living food rich in zinc, calcium, vitamin B and K, and the full spectrum of nutrients the body needs to restore itself. Our founder Elisha Madzivadondo learned this art from his grandmother, who carried it through her maternal ancestral line for generations.
The juice came from the same understanding. Every blend on our menu is built with purpose — the beetroot, carrot and ginger in the Energy Immune Boost aren’t just flavours, they’re a prescription. The spinach, cucumber and celery in the Detox are an alkalising reset. The Ginger Shot — cayenne, turmeric, lemon — is the same anti-inflammatory wisdom your great-grandmother kept in her kitchen, now in a 60ml cup.
We press everything fresh to order. No concentrates, no stabilisers, no cold-chain compromise. Just whole fruits and vegetables, crushed at the moment you need them, at the V&A Waterfront — where Cape Town comes to breathe.
Elisha’s chapter — "Mumera: A Lost African Tradition of Healing Through Sprouting" — is featured in the Ubuntu Wellness Recipe Book, a plant-based healing collection rooted in African food wisdom. Any edible whole food can be sprouted. The power lies in the seed.
